A considered decorative finish begins with preparation, protection of the property and the condition of the surface. SERV4U discusses the room or external area, the intended finish and the scope before work is agreed. The confirmed public scope includes interior painting, suitable exterior painting, surface preparation, decorative finishing, wallpaper hanging, local plaster repairs, feature walls and rental refreshes. Interior work can include walls, ceilings, woodwork and selected decorative details within the agreed job. Surface preparation may include small filling, sanding and making good where the existing surface is suitable. Exterior work is assessed around access, substrate condition, existing coatings and weather conditions. Exterior access, lead paint, damp substrates and specialist coatings need separate assessment before any work is described or priced. Wallpaper hanging is offered on suitable prepared surfaces. Existing wallpaper removal, full room plastering and exterior rendering are not included in the confirmed public wording. Local plaster repairs are limited to small areas prepared for decoration. If damp or mould is visible, do not simply cover it with new paint or wallpaper. The Damp, Mould & Property Health route should be considered before new finishes are planned.
